Smart Thermostat Demand Response Program

thermostat

A smart thermostat is a Wi-Fi enabled device that can automatically adjust heating and cooling temperature settings in your home for optimal performance. For the average household, almost half the annual energy bill goes to heating and cooling!

Members with a smart thermostat can take charge of their energy by participating in the smart thermostat program. Even when energy spikes on certain days of the year, your bill doesn’t have to.

By enrolling in BARC’s Smart Thermostat Program, members will receive a $25 billing credit at the end of their first year or participation.

Participants help BARC manage higher energy demand by allowing specific, short-term adjustments to your HVAC system via your wi-fi thermostat. In most cases, you won’t notice adjustments to your home’s HVAC system, or your comfort. And you’ll always have ultimate control.

How Does it Work?

The Smart Thermostat program is free to join and completely voluntary.

FAQ:

When will the thermostat adjustments occur?

Events will occur during days and times when the energy grid is strained, typically in the summer in the afternoon and early evening or in the winter in the early morning and evening.

I have more than one thermostat.

Sounds great, you’ll be able to enroll both thermostats in the program, but only one thank-you incentive of $25 will be paid at the end of the first summer of participation.
