Tropical Storm Ian Knocks Out Power to More than 700
As of 8 a.m. today, there are approximately 700 members without power. A majority of the members affected are in Rockbridge county. All crews have been dispatched and are currently performing restoration efforts. There have been reports of downed poles, wire, trees on the line, etc.
NEVER approach a downed power line or attempt to remove a tree in contact with or within close proximity to a power line.
BARC electric crews are diligently working to restore power, but due to current conditions and the widespread impact in the service territory, please plan on several hours without power today including those requiring power for medical devices. Have a plan to contact emergency services or go to a hospital should any back-up power devices for medical equipment not last the duration of the outage.
At this time BARC outage management system is experiencing an issue preventing the outage map on the website from displaying. BARC personnel are working to restore the outage map ASAP.
