Outage Update – February 8, 2025

UPDATE: As of Saturday at 3:30 p.m., we have around 200 members still off from Thursday’s ice storm.
As you can see, tree damage, inaccessible roads and the need for heavy clearing has made restoration almost impossible in some areas. They are fighting through to get over 15 broken poles replaced.
We are hopeful for more progress by this evening but again, some areas might not see restoration until tomorrow. We will have another update this evening. Thank you.
***As a safety reminder: If you come across a downed power line, stay away. Never attempt to touch or move a downed power line or to remove trees from power lines. Downed power lines should be reported immediately.
If you are still out of service, please make sure your outage has been reported through the SmartHub app or portal https://barcelectric.smarthub.coop or by calling 1-800-846-2272.
As of 7 a.m., BARC crews are assigned to outages affecting 267 of the 293 members out in Highland County. We have three contract tree crews with our crews and a crew from @Central Virginia Electric Cooperative.
If you are still out of service, please make sure your outage has been reported through the SmartHub app or portal https://barcelectric.smarthub.coop or by calling 1-800-846-2272.
Thank you again to all our members for your patience. The damage from trees blocking roads and access points has made restoration efforts very difficult. We are thankful to our field crews and office personnel who have been working for two straight days to help restore power.
