December 2, 2021 Power Outages in Rockbridge County

OUTAGE UPDATE AS OF 11:00 pm: Crews continue working in the Rockbridge County areas tonight where we have over 1,200 electric consumers without power. Due to a transmission line/pole fire, consumers served by the Cornwall, Longhollow and Timber Ridge substations have lost power this evening. BARC crews are working to put out that fire and assess damage to the electric system in order to make necessary repairs.

For many consumers impacted, we will be able to back feed to another substation in order to restore power. We anticipate to have those consumers back online within the hour.

However – consumers in the Mountain View / Longhollow / Buena Vista areas will be without power for a longer period of time. Since this is the main area of impact, crews have many repairs that will need to be made overnight. They will continue working to make these repairs, but we do not have an estimated time for restoration to these areas.

We know that being without power is inconvenient and we do appreciate your understanding. Crews are working as safely and quickly as possible to restore power to all impacted areas.
