BARC Hosts Charity Golf Tournament Benefiting Community Christmas Program

Lexington, Va — BARC Electric Cooperative and BARC Connects are proud to announce the success of their charity golf tournament fundraiser held this past August. The event brought together local community members, businesses and utility professionals for a day of golf and giving, all in support of Unity4Kids.

Held at Cliff View Golf Course in Falling Springs, the event saw 64 golfers teeing off for a good cause. Thanks to generous donations, sponsorships and participant fees, we raised over $2,600 – 100% of which went directly to the charity’s programs and holiday initiatives.

“Every dollar raised will go straight back into our communities this Christmas” said Tammy Reid, Unity4Kids director. “We are partnering again with Alleghany Highlands YMCA, Rockbridge and Bath County Schools and Rockbridge and Alleghany Social Services. Last year we reached 620 children and families. This year the focus will again be on vulnerable children and meeting their needs, as well as helping families with holiday meals. No child in our region should wake up on Christmas morning feeling forgotten. We want our families to know that we see them and they are not alone. Thank you to BARC for their support again in 2026 and to everyone who joins our mission.”

BARC CEO Bill Buchanan said “Our line crews and employees work hard year-round to keep the power on, but their dedication to this community goes far beyond the grid. Seeing everyone come together on the golf course to support Unity4Kids and make sure local families have a wonderful Christmas is truly inspiring. We want to thank everyone who played, sponsored or volunteered to make this event a massive success.”
