BARC Celebrates Its Winners After 19th Annual Gaff-N-Go Lineworkers’ Rodeo

BARC Electric Cooperative takes home awards at nationwide lineworkers’ competition near Richmond

Lexington — BARC Electric Cooperative is celebrating multiple awards following this weekend’s Terex Gaff-n-Go Lineworkers’ Rodeo hosted by the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives. This event saw record-breaking participation from across the country as more than 200 participants from seven states as far as NY to CA, 65 vendors, and a record 107 apprentices found “camaraderie” and “competition,” and put their skill on display.

“Our competitors had a great time, worked hard and represented BARC with pure professionalism at the Gaff-n-Go Rodeo this weekend” said BARC Electric Cooperative CEO Bill Buchanan. “These crews work hard every day to serve our communities, no matter what the conditions are. This Rodeo was an opportunity to showcase and celebrate their skills to the communities we serve.”

In addition to participating in the 19th annual Gaff-n-Go competition, BARC Elective Cooperative was proud to support VMDAEC with this event where the principles of worker safety and efficiency were highlighted, and attendees had the opportunity to raise money for VMDAEC’s Education Scholarship Foundation. This foundation awards scholarships to students of all kinds, including students that are pursuing a trade education, like linework.

At the sold-out awards banquet BARC Elective Cooperative was proud to see three lineworkers place in three categories.
