Coronavirus Relief Funds – Action Required

BARC Electric Cooperative has received coronavirus relief funds that may be available to our electric consumers who fell behind on electric bill payments between March 1 and October 31, 2020.

These funds are part of the federal CARES Act and authorized for use towards electric account arrearages by the General Assembly and the governor in the amended state budget. These funds are not a cash assistance program but will be applied to the past due amounts of eligible consumers who complete an online application certifying that their electric bill debt is due to an economic hardship caused by the pandemic.

The deadline to complete the required application to receive funds is January 15, 2021. Applications can be found on BARC’s website: http://www.barcelectric.com/forms.

Relief funding can only be applied to past due amounts for electric service incurred between March 1 and October 31, 2020. The amount available to be applied to each account will not be known until after February 1, 2021.

Electric consumers who complete the required application, and who meet the required criteria will receive a credit on their electric bill. For further information, members should visit www.barcelectric.com/forms, or for consumers who are unable to access the internet or who need assistance completing the application, may call 800-846-2272.
