BARC Connects continues fiber construction along Greenhouse Road

Rockbridge County, VA – BARC Electric Cooperative (BARC) and its subsidiary BARC Connects remain committed to improving the quality of life in the region as it moves forward with fiber-to-the-home (FTTh) in Rockbridge County. In addition to BARC’s electric service territory, the Cooperative is expanding fiber into non-BARC service areas in order to provide a competitive alternative in parts of the county. Combining non-BARC areas with its electric service territory will enable BARC to expand fiber to less dense areas in the future.

Work along Greenhouse Road has recently resulted in incidents, from both unmarked and marked utility lines, impacting water and wastewater services to residents in that area.  The most recent incident on September 26 was an accidental contact with a marked water line. BARC and its contractors regret the disruption of water service to impacted residents and apologize for the inconvenience.

BARC wishes to thank the Rockbridge County Public Service Authority (PSA) for quickly responding and working with BARC staff. BARC is working with its contractors to establish an action plan in hopes of no further disruptions of this nature during the project. Though BARC contractors may not always be able to avoid damaging unmarked underground lines, it will work closely with Rockbridge County to make every effort to eliminate and minimize disruptions.

BARC appreciates the support it has received from the multitude of Rockbridge County residents as fiber-to-the-home construction progresses. If residents or customers have concerns or issues related to this project, please feel free to contact BARC at 800-846-2272 or email support@barcconnects.net.
