25-Apr-2019April 2019 Construction Update
The weather is warmer, the skies are bluer and we are on a roll with connecting even more customers to our BARC Connects broadband services. With construction picking up, we’ve greatly increased the weekly installations of fiber-to-the-home service in phase 1. We are excited to see the uptick in both construction and installations and hopeful that these adjustments, along with a drier spring and summer, will help us stay on course to getting broadband to consumers as quickly as possible.
We are now forecasting that mainline construction will be complete by the end of June in the following areas:
• Fairfield north to Raphine
• Fairfield south to Cornwall substation
• Cornwall south to Lexington substation
• Conrock south to Effinger substation
• Effinger to Rt. 60 (Jacktown Road)
• Backdraft Road
• Alone Mill Road
Drop construction is underway in all of the above areas and will continue past June. We are working diligently to get everyone that is currently signed up connected in the above areas within the next 6-8 months.
Mainline fiber installation along Rt. 11 North for non-BARC Electric customers will begin next week. We will then focus our efforts on service connections in that corridor, as well as Rt. 60 east and west, and downtown Lexington.
GOOD NEWS!!! We will also be extending fiber to the end of our lines near Brownsburg Turnpike as well as near Goose Creek Road. We will soon be sending out information on how to sign up for service to those newly eligible customers. These are two electric lines that made more sense to complete the fiber build all the way to the end. Please spread the word that fiber is coming! Free service drops are still available for BARC Electric customers living in eligible areas north of I-64 and west of I-81, as well as along Raphine Road, and in the Mount Vista and Greenhouse Road areas. Interested customers can check their eligibility for service at http://shop.barcconnects.net or by calling our office at the number below.
